Yendi Diocese is located in the eastern corridor of the Northern Region of Ghana and partly in Northeast Region. The seat of the Diocese is in Yendi town. The catchment area of the Diocese corresponds to the civil administrative territories of three Municipal and seven District Assemblies – Municipalities: Yendi, Nanumba North and Gushegu; District Assemblies: Saboba, Zabzugu, Tatale-Sanguli, Chereponi, Karaga, Mion, and Nanumba South.
In terms of Church organisation, the Diocese of Yendi is part of the Tamale Ecclesiastical Province of Northern Ghana, sharing boundaries with Tamale Archdiocese to the west, the Novrongo Bolgatanga Diocese to the North, the Diocese of Dapaong in Togo to the East and the Diocese of Jasikan to the South.
The vegetation of the area consists of mainly Savanna i.e. tall Guinea grass, together with scattered low trees, such as Acacia, Shea, and Boaba. Except for part of the eastern border near Togo, which is mountainous, the rest of the land is a plain, drained by two rivers (Oti and Daka) and many streams. The rain patterns are erratic, one rainy season, from May to October. The rest of the year is dry and hot, with temperatures ranging from 19-40°C.
